Kentucky Derby Bar Cart

Grab your mint juleps, big hats or fascinators and lets get ready to decorate the bar cart for the Kentucky Derby! I decided to make a hunter green gingham dress for myself to wear, and I love how it turned out!!

I knew I wanted to go all out for the Kentucky Derby- it is such a fun theme! I will always get behind an occasion that inspires the masses to dress up! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I shared more behind the scenes/ day before prep on instastories gearing up for this photo session. Did you all like that? I wanted to share how the creative process comes together. Basically how I am usually running around my house going “Oh I think I need that for the table” or “Let me just take these teacup saucers and make them horse show ribbons- that seems logical!” It may sound like a nightmare to some, or a lot of work, and it is a lot of work, but y’all I LOVE IT!! I love the brainstorming, the crafting, the long hours, and then seeing it all come together! I also love incorporating friends and brands that pair well with my ideas or themes. HUGE shout out to Brooke and Madelyn for helping!! The three of us had so much fun (getting eating alive by mosquitos) jamming out to Taylor Swift, and sipping cocktails. Those two ladies made it such a fun afternoon!!

How fantastic are all these colors? These urns were a fantastic Goodwill find! I found them last week and immediately snatched them up. I also bought two matching gold lions for our porch. For this theme I wanted to add more feminine and girly elements to the bar cart. I purchased the ribbons and the faux flower garland from Joann’s the day before the shoot. The flower garland was 60% making each strand $7. I bought three strands, but only ended up using two. I love how the bar cart came out!!! I will absolutely use another Joann’s garland for future bar cart decorating! I am still swooning over the bright colors on this bar cart!

I have never been more in love with a bourbon bottle! The color have my heart. Woodford Reserve is the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby and this is the official bottle for this year. It is almost too pretty to drink! I might just keep it as a permanent bar cart accessory. I know I know, I am nuts!

This has been my favorite DIY to date!!! I transformed a $2 set of 4 saucers into horse show ribbons! This craft was so simple and came out even better than I had imagined. You can watch a time lapse video of me transforming a saucer to a horse show ribbon on my Instagram.

No Kentucky Derby bar cart would be complete without a riding hat. What is a must have bar cart accessory for your Derby bar cart? What area do you like to decorate for the holidays? Are you a porch lady, a bar cart lady, tablescape lady, or do you go all out?

On a personal exciting note, the night before this shoot I was up really late crafting and it was on that night that my Instagram got 10,000 followers! Yall that is big for me!! I am excited, humbled, and thankful to everyone who is following me!! If you don't follow me on Instagram, please do say and say hi!

Thank you so much for reading along and following my Kentucky Derby content. Don’t worry, I am not done yet. I have one more Derby theme post headed your way! I hope this post has inspired you to “Do It Yourself & Treat Yourself” in some way. This saucer DIY was my absolute favorite! If you decide to DIY any saucers or transform saucers into something else, I would LOVE to see them!
