Tartan Dress & Bar Carts
Two of my favorite things, black watch tartan and bar carts!
This summer I taught myself how to sew, and as I wondered around the fabric stores I fell in love with all the tartan options. As the weather grew cooler, I’m in central Texas where winter has a mind of its own, I knew I wanted to construct a few dresses from the tartan fabric I spotted earlier in the summer.
I picked up several tartan options in different fabrics, I am a girl who likes her options. I am wearing a fleece fabric and let me tell you, fleece is amazing! Its so warm and soft. I know completely understand the snuggie craze. I’m not going to buy or wear a snuggie, but I sure as heck going to keep making these fleece dresses! This dress is crafted from a vintage 1960’s simplicity pattern.
I knew this dress would compliment my leather bar cart! This bar cart is styled with my man in mind. We both adore decanters and crystal. Our home is styled in a manner that incorporates my love for vintage items, and his love of hunting accents. When styling his bar cart, I tried to add accents that complimented his and my style, specifically my love for fine crystal. As I mentioned we live in Texas, so horns are a staple part of our home decor, therefore I knew the bar cart had to have at least one horn or antler.
Bar carts are such a fun and versatile piece of furniture. You can use them to store alcohol, beverages, snacks, books, plants. My favorite part of owning a bar cart, is that I get to decorate them for the holidays! Stringing a festive garland or banner is a fun touch to any bar cart regardless of the season.
I have adorned our bar cart with a fantastic hand painted champagne bottle from a local artist called Victoria Champion Art.
On my latest antiquing adventure with my grandma, we found a fabulous wicker bar cart! I have been dying for one, so it was so exciting to stumble upon one!!! I have already been thinking of how I’m going to decorate it for Christmas and New Years, guess I better start working on a dress for that bar cart! I would love to hear your favorite ways to decorate your bar cart!
Thanks for reading and I hope I inspired you to Do It Yourself or Treat Yourself!
