Vintage Hostess: Be My Valentine

In this post I am going to introduce you all to a term that I identify with, the term is Vintage Hostess. Read on to read my definition and see the lovely Vintage Hostess Valentine’s tablescape I put together. This scene from my backyard includes white roses, pink and red vintage china, and the loveliest macaroons you ever did see. Oh and a special appearance from a PUPPY!!!

This flower arrangement could not be any more perfect for the table mood I was aiming for. I personally love white roses!! I partnered with my friend Joeylynn, the boss babe behind the company The Traveling Florist, who brought to life this arrangement. Her flower arrangements never cease to amaze me, and I love that she is a local female business owner!!!

When she brought over the arrangement I knew I wanted to pair this feminine centerpiece with some vintage crystal. Part of my hostess style is what I identify as the Vintage Hostess. Fun fact, that was almost going to be the name of my blog, but then I decided to keep it simple and name my blog after my Instagram. Be on the look out for a coffee table book titled The Vintage Hostess …. I am kidding!

So what is a Vintage Hostess exactly? When I think of a hostess I think of women from the past. I immediately think of Mary Astor at Pickfair, Debbie Reynolds, Grace Kelly, Myrna Loy,( i.e. my favorite movie starts from the Gilded Age ), June Cleaver, I Love Lucy (and her fabulous hostess gowns) and the darling housewives of America from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. . The vintage hostess is a fabulous put together women from the who arranges beautiful dinner parties, has impeccable style, and loves attention to detail. I commonly sew hostess dresses/ hostess gowns. Which ties in perfectly to my inner vintage hostess.

Fast forward to today, the vintage hostess is any one who enjoys the role of hostess, but uses and infuses vintage elements. Whether that is vintage silver you inherited, vintage china you acquired or purchased, or any retro or antique touches you would like to include in your home, table, or lifestyle. Any one can be a vintage hostess. It is not about having expensive items, but rather having appreciation for vintage items. Some of my beloved vintage treasures have been from thrift store or charity shops. For me (and my shopping companion/bad influence/ and fellow vintage hoarder aka my Grandma) it is all about the thrill of the hunt!

I AM a Vintage Hostess! If you yourself identify as a Vintage Hostess, lets connect! I love being inspired by others and gushing over the same china, movies, and basically all things vintage.

For this table I paired my favorite vintage napkin rings with some vintage dinner napkins. I also mixed my Johnson Brothers china with an unknown china designer. The top plate is one of my favorite patters, I love the gold with the light pink!! I wish I could find a whole set of it!! If anyone knows what the pattern is or the maker, please let me know.

The perfect dessert to any meal! These macaroons were provided by the incredibly talented and self taught Dreamy Sweets By Blondee who is local to me and a female business owner. I love supporting local!!! Not only are these treats adorable to look at, but they are completely delicious!!! Honest, this was the best macaroon I have ever tasted. Go check out her other macaroon creations!!

In pairing with the pink theme of the afternoon, I created this pink elastic skirt and a white crop top with pink pom poms on the bottom. This was my very first time sewing a crop top, sewing a skirt, and sewing with elastic- a lot of firsts for one outfit. It was so fun and easy so be ready to see a lots more of this style. I paired the look with my Kendra Scott gold clip on earrings- because gold and pink are clearly meant to be together.

Speaking of things that are meant to be together… I did also promise a puppy. Let me introduce to you all my model, Jameson. First off your heart WILL MELT when you see him. He is a 5 month old blonde Frenchie. Sadly he is not mine, but his mom and I are friends so I am hoping to take more photos with him.

I told you your heart would melt!!!! It was total love at first sight for he and I! I hope I have found some fellow Vintage Hostesses! I also hope this post inspires you to go ask your grandma for her china, or encourages you to break out your wedding china. There is never a more special occasion to use it, than today! Everyday is a celebration, lets eat like it (unless you have small children then I have no advice for you).

Thank you so much for reading along. I hope I inspired you to Do It Yourself or Treat Yourself!
